NOTE: Independence Pass is closed from about September 30 (sooner if the snow flies earlier; later if it doesn't!) until the Friday before Memorial Day. Check ahead! Also, even though it looks like a true shortcut on the map, traveling via Independence Pass is slow as well as a little risky! Unless you can afford the delay (and have nerves of steel), you should consider I-70 to Route 82.
Take I-70 West to Glenwood Springs. At Glenwood Springs, take Hwy 82 to Aspen. Hwy 82 becomes Main Street in Aspen. At Main and Mill, turn right and go 2 blocks to the intersection of Mill Street and Hyman Avenue. The Wheeler Opera House is on the right-hand corner.
