Bobby plus an amazing array of musicians!

A year ago , Bobby had open heart surgery. Then an infection spread through his body and his doctors were afraid he wouldn't make it through the night. But Bobby’s always beaten long odds, and in celebration the Wheeler is hosting "The Bobby Mason Alive Concert". It’s a celebration for everyone, and features Bobby plus an amazing band.

It was in 1969 that Bobby transplanted himself from the hills of Hollywood to the mountains of Aspen, just in time to be in at the beginning of Aspen’s heyday. A year later he joined the legendary group, Black Pearl, as one of the lead singers and lead guitarist. After Black Pearl, he collaborated with Bob Carpenter, now keyboardist for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Together they formed Homebrew, which shortly thereafter was renamed Starwood by their new manager, Jerry Weintraub. At that same time, John Denver was putting together a new record label called Windsong Records, and asked Bobby and Homebrew to be among its first signed groups. Recording all original material, their work was covered in the 1970’s by a number of artists, including Three Dog Night, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and John Denver himself. Bobby has had a long and distinguished career and is listed in the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame Anthology. More importantly, he’s an Aspen treasure – alive, well, and still playing his heart out.
