The Wheeler Opera House has announced that it will present mixed genre performances in a new summer series called Sunset Sessions. Performances will feature great music, spoken word, comedy and more. The events will be presented in the newly designed Wheeler Bar Lobby stage—one of the best places to watch the sunset behind Aspen Mountain.
The first performance as part of the new series is Kevin Heinz. Kevin is a one-man-band singer/songwriter from Boulder, CO living in San Francisco, CA. His unique performances involve looping vocals, guitars and percussion and has placed him on stages across Colorado and California at music festivals, night clubs, bars and coffee shops.
Kevin Heinz grew up playing music, raised by a father that played in the church band and a mother who taught first grade with an acoustic guitar in hand. He learned to play guitar with his father in his young teens, and began writing songs and recording with a home 4-track tape recorder at 15.
In 2001 he stepped into his first professional studio to record an album of original work titled “Daydreaming” and supported the album by performing regularly in Boulder and Fort Collins.
In 2004, he traveled to Australia and studied music production at Griffith University in Queensland, producing a full-band original EP titled “Australia.” Here he honed in his studio skills while attending classes in ProTools, live sound reinforcement, advanced guitar and music business. In Australia, Kevin performed at The Hard Rock Cafe, The Sugar Shack, Uni Bar, and the streets of Surfer’s Paradise, Sydney, Brisbane and Queenstown, New Zealand.
In 2011, he released “Kevin Heinz & Friends,” a self-produced collaboration with musicians across Colorado, supporting the album with solo and full-band performances at venues including Belly Up in Aspen and the Blues & Brews Festival in Telluride.
He currently lives in San Francisco and is writing and performing new material in venues across the Bay Area, as well as returning to Colorado in December for a winter tour. His albums are available on iTunes, Bandcamp and Soundcloud by searching Kevin Heinz or KHz Productions.
