Ticket Policies & FAQ

General Theater Policies

  • Theatre doors generally open thirty minutes prior to curtain. We will always try to open to our second-floor lobby earlier if there is inclement weather.
  • Doors close thirty minutes after live events begin, and twenty minutes after the start of films. While we often have Wheeler personnel nearby after these times, we cannot assure that you will gain admittance. It’s not always possible to be prompt in Aspen, but please try!
  • For most live performances, refreshments purchased at the Wheeler bar may be permitted in the auditorium. The lobby bar is open for refreshments before the show and during intermission.
  • As a rule, children under four years of age are not permitted at live performances. Exceptions are made for performances geared specifically for families and children. Children who are in any way disturbing any performance experience for neighboring patrons are required to be removed from the theatre immediately.
  • Every patron, including children, must have a ticket.
  • No smoking is allowed in the building.
  • As a rule, cameras and recording devices are prohibited. Please check with the Wheeler in advance if you are curious about whether this policy applies for your event.

Performance Etiquette

We strive to have our audience and performers enjoy our events free of noise and distraction. We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave if their behavior is disruptive to others. All cell phones and other personal devises should be turned off prior to the performance. Parents, please use discretion whether your child is old enough to sit quietly through a performance. No children under three years of age are permitted at live performances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tickets

Can I replace my tickets if they are lost?

If you lose or forget your tickets, you may have them reprinted at our Aspen Show Tickets location or at the mobile box office onsite at your venue on the night of the performance. We ask that you bring identification for your tickets as a safeguard for yourself.

If we printed your tickets, please be aware that they are printed on heat sensitive paper. Please DO NOT leave them near a heat source such as direct sunlight or on the dashboard of your car.

May I get my money back?

Sorry – all ticket sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges available.

Special Needs

Do you have wheelchair accommodations at the Wheeler?

Yes, the Wheeler Opera House is ADA compliant. If you have a specific disability access need, please tell the box office at the time you purchase tickets. The Wheeler holds special needs seats as long as possible for our ADA patrons; however, as shows near sell-out these seats are released for general sale, so please plan to purchase your tickets early.

Do you have assistance for hearing impaired patrons?

Assisted listening devices are available at no charge. Speak to an usher or the house manager when you arrive at the theater, or call ahead and we will have a device ready for you on arrival.

Arriving at the Performance

I’m late, now what do I do?

Doors generally open one-half hour before show time. All performances are scheduled to begin promptly at the advertised time. According to artist contractual agreements, patrons who arrive late may be seated at the first appropriate opportunity. We know that running late can happen, so we keep our box office doors open until one-half hour after the start of a performance, and twenty minutes after the start of a film. Should you arrive after we have closed our doors, you may not be able to gain entry into the Wheeler.

Where can I park for a performance at the Wheeler?

There is paid parking on the streets surrounding the Wheeler until 6:00pm, Monday through Saturday. Be sure you have paid for enough time to cover the time you are in the theater. After 6 pm and all day on Sundays, parking is free on the streets surrounding the theater. Aspen’s covered parking garage is located just four blocks from the Wheeler Opera House on Mill Street. We highly advise leaving your car at home or at your hotel and taking the RFTA bus service – it’s easy, fast, and free!
